Real Estate Is More Than Opening Doors

There are plenty of real estate agents in Georgia, and there are plenty of large brokerage names people recognize. But when you are buying or selling one of your largest assets, the name on the sign matters far less than the person standing beside you when something goes wrong.

I’m Stormy Curtis, Broker and REALTOR® with Buy Georgia Realty in Dallas, Georgia, and that belief is a huge part of why I built my brokerage the way I did. I don’t believe real estate should feel like a numbers game where clients are passed from person to person or where agents are left to figure complicated transactions out on their own. Whether I am personally representing a buyer or seller or helping one of my agents navigate a difficult situation, I stay involved.

Because real estate rarely goes exactly according to plan.

Being a Broker Changes the Way I Represent My Clients

As a practicing REALTOR® and broker, I look at transactions from multiple angles. I’m not simply thinking about finding a house, marketing a listing, or getting an offer accepted. I’m looking at the contract, deadlines, contingencies, disclosures, financing, appraisal, inspections, negotiations, and potential problems that could affect my client later.

Over the years, I’ve worked on transactions involving traditional residential sales, land, commercial properties, VA buyers, probate situations, tenant-occupied properties, seller financing, and those that required more problem-solving than a typical closing.

That experience has taught me something important: A good real estate professional isn’t proven when everything goes right. You find out how good they are when something goes wrong. That is where communication, knowledge, and experience matter.

Dallas and Paulding County Aren’t Just Markets to Me

I work throughout Georgia, but Dallas and Paulding County are home. Knowing an area isn’t just knowing the average sales price or pulling comparable properties from MLS. It’s understanding the communities, growth, roads, local businesses, schools, development, neighboring counties, and how people actually live here. It also means being involved. My connection to the community extends well beyond real estate. Through local networking, community events, and the Paulding County social media communities I’ve helped build, I hear what residents are talking about, what businesses are opening, what concerns people have, and what is changing locally.

That kind of knowledge cannot be downloaded from a national real estate website.

I’m Not Interested in Selling You Something You Shouldn’t Buy

One thing clients learn quickly about me is that I’m going to tell them what I think. Sometimes that means saying, “I love this house for you.” Sometimes it means saying, “I think we need to keep looking.” Marketing photos can be beautiful. Listings can sound perfect. Numbers can look great on paper. But my responsibility is not to convince someone to buy or sell simply to close another transaction. My responsibility is to help my client make an informed decision. A home is more than square footage. It is your commute, your lifestyle, your land, your neighbors, your finances, and where you will live your everyday life.

Communication Shouldn't Stop Once You're Under Contract

Getting a contract signed is only the beginning. Some of the most stressful parts of real estate happen afterward: inspections, repairs, appraisals, lending requirements, title issues, and negotiations. I believe clients should understand what is happening and why. You shouldn't have to wonder whether your agent received an email, remembered a deadline, or followed up with the other side. And when I don't have an answer yet, I'll tell you that too. Communication doesn't mean pretending everything is perfect. It means keeping you informed while we figure it out.

Why I Created Buy Georgia Realty

I wanted to create a brokerage where relationships still mattered. Not only relationships with clients, but relationships with the agents who trust me to be their broker.

I believe agents deserve a broker who will answer questions, review contracts, teach them, correct them when necessary, and stand beside them when a transaction becomes difficult. Ultimately, that makes our agents better, and better agents provide better representation to the public. I don't believe a giant brokerage logo makes someone a great REALTOR®.

Knowledge does. Experience does. Integrity does. Communication does. And earning someone's trust does.

That philosophy is at the heart of Buy Georgia Realty.

Choosing the Right REALTOR® in Dallas, Cartersville, Acworth, Hiram, Douglasville, Rockmart, Villa Rica, etc..

If you're interviewing agents, don't be afraid to ask questions.

Ask how they communicate. Ask who helps them when something unusual happens. Ask how well they understand Georgia contracts. Ask about their experience with the kind of property you're buying or selling. Ask whether they'll personally remain involved after you go under contract. Most importantly, choose someone you feel comfortable calling when you're worried, confused, or need someone to tell you the truth. Real estate is personal. And I believe your representation should be too.
