Rome is a city within Floyd County and a regional hub for northwest Georgia. Built on seven hills where the Etowah and Oostanaula rivers join to form the Coosa, Rome has a riverfront character all its own. Historic Broad Street is lined with locally owned restaurants, shops, and theaters, and the Rome Clock Tower is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. Rome is a college town, too, home to Berry College, known for its vast and scenic campus with miles of trails, and Shorter University. The Heritage Trail System follows the Etowah, Oostanaula, and Coosa rivers with miles of paved paths, and the Rome Emperors play minor league baseball at AdventHealth Stadium. Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic, now one integrated health system, make Rome a regional medical center. US 27 and US 411 connect Rome to Cedartown, Cartersville, and Interstate 75. Housing includes historic homes, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, and rural acreage. Public schools are served by Rome City Schools inside the city and Floyd County Schools elsewhere.
